I would not. Yes, many jobs require a degree, but I have the spirit of an entrepreneur. I received a Masters in education years ago, and even though I taught for a few years, it was not my passion which is why I quit after six years. Twelve years after graduating, I am still paying on student loan debt. In my opinion, it is not worth it. A former coworker of mine who is now retired has a son who pays $700 a month in student loan debt, and therefore has to live at home with his parents because he cannot afford to live on his own. I was appalled. You pay all that money for an education that gets you a job that doesn't pay enough for you to live alone.
I'm not speaking against college. I would encourage others to go to college because for most jobs, a degree is needed, but for me, I would not go. I'd work a job that doesn't require a degree for a couple of years while living at home, save up my money, and go after my dream in the creative arts, but life is a journey of lessons, and the best lessons are learned after it's too late to repeat them.

My First Post
I am the dark mystique. It symbolizes women of color everywhere.
This is my first post for this blog, and I wanted to introduce myself to the world. I am a woman of few passions but many interests. Therefore, this blog is geared toward women but the topics will definitely vary. I am a woman who is still learning, discovering, uncovering, and experiencing. I would like for anyone who leaves a comment to feel free to share. I will read all comments and engage with my audience. I love writing, talking, and sharing ideas. I do hope that this blog can be a blessing and a help to many out there, as I hope that you too can be a blessing and a help to me.
I love the theatre, going to plays, and films. To me, no matter how unrealistic, some of them may be, they represent us and our imaginations. I love traveling and seeing different places. I have an interest in issues that affect us as women of color such as, little representation in the film industry, finances and saving for our future and children's future, community support, stereotypes, and how we can make an impact as individuals.
Also, feel free to suggest topics that you would like for me to write about. I will definitely consider them.
